What is Essure Reversal?
Essure reversal is a micro-surgical procedure done under general anesthesia. Dr. Saadat will remove the Essure device, and then reconnect the undamaged segments of the fallopian tubes to the uterus.
At times a new incision into the uterus may be required to re-implant the fallopian tube. This is usually true if there is severe scarring noted at the proximal portion of the tube (where the Essure device is taken out). The surgery generally takes between 1-3 hours and will be performed in our state-of-the-art fully accredited ambulatory surgical facility. This surgery typically does not require an overnight stay – you will be able to go home the same day. Recovery time varies from person to person, but is approximately 7-14 days. Because Essure works by causing extensive scarring in the tube, the process of Essure reversal is typically not as successful as the tubal ligation reversal (where the tubal ligation was performed without an Essure device).
